MINI Chipito, the budget minimega

SMG Megabot added 2 years ago

Outdated - this was a built before the performance of the wheels was increased. I think you are going to flip quite a lot now.

TLDR: Your first mega. 17M RP. Cheap. Focusing on efficiency vs price

17 102 774 RP of pure DEATH. Ok, seriously.

A lot of people may ask when to start battle as a mega. I have decided to build a mega that should give you the answer. I am not trying to make a beautiful or superOP mega as you might noticed, I want to show you a functional mega for not a much RP.

Many of you will bitch around why people play with shitty megas. Well, they just want to, they finally reached the top and they were really excited about it. Not to mention that when playing as a mega, you will get more RP to build better one than playing as a T10.

Important stats:

3357 pFLOPS
4x steering wheels to make you agile, of course it would be better with another 2 more wheels, but, budget yo. Anyway, due to its size, wheels are quite close so be carefull on the bumps.
4x TX1 SMG because three or less is really not enough. I think 4 is the minimum. The guns are triforced (->gallery)

Well, yes, it is SQUISHY (obviously, its a budget mega), but everyone must start. In the game you can encounter a lot of different megas, poeple that started too, I wanted to offer a cheap but solid and a working build with a well built core. Have a look at the screenshots how the core is built. Still, you are not a rambo, so play SMART! The game will usually place you in the game against equal CPU mega. So you should definitely win :)

If someone asks, i will make more detailed screenshots and upload it somewhere. Cheers!

I made something like your Chipito but with additional front gun and side shields.

And it can be fun and efficient! You can add this as variation to your craft: http://c2n.me/3fUjD38.jpg

TY for this nice craft, bro! It rly can help to reach first 200 X scores :) It's very good alternative to rainbow-megas. It can't own good Regenerators but it can farm scores for megaship. It's nice!

Good work for a mini mega.

There's a big difference between making a inexpensive mega compared to a badly built one made for farming. Unfortunately, alot tend to do the later kind of builds.

What you have is well made, but it's size and compactness leaves it vulnerable to plasma. You said it was 17M? You could create a Regenerator-S for about 20m, so I can't think of a situation where I would pick this one over a regenerator. Another problem with this budget mega is that people don't like budget megas. They lack firepower and defense which usually leads to a defeat. You could build a non-megabot with the same firepower as this mega, so why is it a mega? The defense doesn't make up for what you're sacrificing in my opinion.

Opposing with R-S is not quite good, because it will not cost 20M. You cannot relly to this site because it counts it wrong. According to this site, this mega would cost 6.5M. My other mega costs 20.8 according to this site, but it costs about 36M. That is a quite difference. Simple math. 4 wheels = 3.8M, 4 guns = 4M, 1 seat = 1M, 5 plates = 2.5M, that makes total of 11M without cubes.

Anyway. The game would not lead to defeat, because the matchmaking system will not put you in the battle against 7000 pFLOPS bot.

And I think you have missed the point of this build. I am not really sacrificing a defense or anything. Because the point was to show that you can make a solid mega with low budget. I mean. Not on purpose, but because you dont have enough budget to spend. I don't know if you read the description, but at least read the first sentence. You would know that this is designed as a "First mega"

I wasn't relying on any numbers the site gave me, I've made the Regenerator-S myself and I know the costs. I think 17M isn't even close to the cost of most of the "first time megabot" builds I see around, otherwise known as "rainbow bots". People just buy a couple mega-SMGs and throw it on an assortment of other tiered cubes of whatever they happen to have or can afford(less than 17M) in order to get enough CPU to go into battle. I can tell you from experience that while using a Regenerator I will see these rainbow bots on the enemy team.

How the hell did you that I wonder :) Regen-S, count with me.

6x wheel 835k =~ 5M,
6x SMG 995k =~ 6M
16x EP 435k =~ 7M
1x Seat =~ 1M

That is 19M WITHOUT chassis

388x + 156x TX chassis 23970 =~ 13M

That means total 32M

If you would use t10, it would still cost ~26M, and that is a quite difference.

Yes indeed the 19M without chassis is accurate, but even if you made it completely out of T8 chassis cubes I would still take it over the Chipito as it has superior firepower and shielding, regardless of the inferior armor.

If we wont think it is superstupid to place T8 (which is) and if you would use T8 on this setup, its 21M vs 12.5M and that is still 9M. I dont really understand your arguments. What is your point?

At the core of the issue, the mini chipito lacks proper firepower. Solve this issue and I'll consider it a practical design.

Looks great for a budget build. Could use 2 more connection beams to the back, it seems like it would fall off easy.

Well i thought about that too, its not really matter of a price but the healing rate. You will get the guns after the cubes below will be restored and that is not good since this bot has only 4 budget guns. So that is why I decided to make it that way :)

I cannot really remember how I built it, but the important thing is to put guns and EPs and wheels efficiently, see the gallery where to place those. The build pattern is pretty basic :) check this image http://robocraftgarage.com/media/build/original/12b07d/247e8c66b919318536416e68f0.jpeg

For the challenge of making the cheapest and most useful (while being cheap) Mega Bot, you did really well.

Much better than rainbow bots we see everyday, and noob-friendly money maker while its low Ranking gives you more "strong" teammates (because current Matchmaking looks at total Ranking points of both teams).

I go to make it too :D I got some spare EPs/MSMGs and hopefully one unused garage slot ;-)

Playing for more than 280 hrs, I found out that I have so many cubes left so I decided to make this little because, as others, I also struggled when I came to TX :)))

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?

After receiving X amount of points you will get a chance of being promoted to "trusted reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Trusted reviewer?

As a trusted reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Trusted reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.

Constructive Voting

Hey, seems like you're about to place your first constructive vote. That's awesome! I just wanted to inform you a bit about it before you jump into voting though. You can vote on any comment accompanied with a rating as a "Constructive Review". This will give the reviewer a "Constructive Point".

When should I vote a comment as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely vote it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do one want these points?

After receiving about 100 total amount of votes the user will get a chance of being promoted to "Approved Reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Approved Reviewer?

As an approved reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Approved reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.

Ok, got it! I want to place my vote now.
