Devastator - Rapid Plasma

Plasma Copter added 2 years ago

Got a few Mega plasmas lying about from when you tried to build a plasma mega, and then realised it sucked in comparison to your epic mega smg gunbed? Then have a look at this bot, using Robocraft's mechanic of 3 guns firing faster than 6 to rapid-fire some mega-plasmas on a heli!

Have a look at the montage and build tutorial below! \/\/

I have to say... I love the design. And the serious firepower.

Also... I having built attack choppers with 8 all the way down to 2 rotors I think if you are smart you can have less... specially if you play the Battle mode more than Pit n TDM as deaths have less impact early in the game.

However... I do think that if you are going to post a video of gameplay you can't just make it a montage of kills... it should represent the strengths and weaknesses of your build.

If you loose 2 rotors you are going to flop about like a fish (believe me, I know)... and there is nothing wrong with showing it. Choppers are not meant to take punishment, it's the price they pay for being agile, fast and able to move how they do.

Yeah I think I did edit out a lot, I don't edit like normal, I cut it all up then stick it all back together so sometimes I may well get rid of where I died, even if its just so it's in time with the music. Next time I'll definitely show the strengths and weakness as you say I think it gives the bot a certain genuinity.

3 rotors... and your video doesn't show you being railed down? :3

the funny thing is that you can deal more damage and be more accurate with 6 regular mk10 plasma launchers. the mkx1 deals 14k and fire twice (14k*6) resulting in a less accurate second shot, the mk10 deals 18k (18k*6) and 6 of those cost less than a single tx. for 300 pflops a single tx plasma you can have 9 mk10 plasma so 3 redundancies and build a more efficient copter for a 2s more reloading which actually decrease with overclock xD

That is decidedly not the point, the point is maximising damage, if you want to build a plasma block copter please do it will probably perform better in combat. By the end of battle arenas you shoot once every second and a bit, still takes 3 seconds to fire 6 mk10 plasmas at max. The feeling of firing that fast, and being fired upon that fast, is pretty cool/scary, depending on how you look at it.

I was only explaining the avg funct rating for a 70m+ rr, In fact I gave it max creativity because I get it it's fun to play and takes some cunning to build it :D

Thanks for rating and stuff but you did give it a 6, I often topscore on games, whether tdm or battle arena, not sure how that's a 6. If you generally give glass cannons less than 6's I would advise you to change how you see them, they are after all a clearly viable option even if you don't use them yourself. (My other glass cannon lacerator) http://robocraftgarage.com/robot/swPRUW48 not for adverts, just to see how it's more than viable.

you have 3 rotors, 3 awfully big weapons, and no contingency in place for when you're most definitely going down, like thrusters or... something. The fact is that for a 70 something millions robot ranking it performs less than average, there is a an hilarious cut in the vid when the bot in full mk10 is about to waste you and the screen suddenly goes black... 3 full discharges to scrap a tank in full mk9 armor at oc 13... if you really like the 900 pflops waste because it's fun it's ok and the rapid fire is cool and the bot looks cool, but the other 500pflops don't compensate for the lack of everything else just by being good looking XD

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?

After receiving X amount of points you will get a chance of being promoted to "trusted reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Trusted reviewer?

As a trusted reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Trusted reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.

Constructive Voting

Hey, seems like you're about to place your first constructive vote. That's awesome! I just wanted to inform you a bit about it before you jump into voting though. You can vote on any comment accompanied with a rating as a "Constructive Review". This will give the reviewer a "Constructive Point".
