A Poorly Designed Bot™ (Gen II)

Plasma Hover added 2 years ago

For those who don't already know, this bot got its name when I intentionally tried to create a "bad" bot design. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I have apparently failed at that task ;)

With all the fun I've had with Generation I of this bot, I just couldn't let it die. So, here is a new version now that TX armor is gone.

There are some substantial changes to the frame of the bot...and of course a new paint job ;)

I was pretty bummed about this bot with the loss of the TX armor. However, Gen II seems to be performing even better without it...go figure.

This bot is fast and agile...so fast that I had to add rudders to stabilize it when hovers get blown off.

EDIT: Rudders have been removed. Something changed with the last update and they kept flipping me upside down. This bot had three Battle Arena matches over 2 million RP in the last week!

I LOVE this bot! It just continues to impress ;) Maybe I should think about changing its name now....naaaah. ;)
Last match 8 kills, 17 assists, 1 death, 18.5K damage, and 7500 score (well ahead of everyone else...including 4 air bots)...and the WIN!
I think this may be my favorite bot to play...even more favorite than the Robo Red Baron now that we have the aeroflak.

I really didn't expect this from a ground bot, but after the update this bot earns in the top 3 of my team for scoring over 80% of the time. Just had another match over 2 mil about 5 minutes ago ;) However, they did something to rudders, so it was constantly flipping upside down when I changed direction. I may need to take them off. But, I'm getting good at driving a hover upside down and shooting bots at the same time ;)

Sleds have got so much easier with this update, I just need to find a way to get them flying again.

It doesn't perform better due to lack of Tx, it performs better due to lack of pilot seat. Some bots which were really focussed on Ep or movement in the previous update were weaker due to having to bulk up the seat section, now it's not there those bots are free, and tend to do very well

I think that is part of it. Another plus is the Edge Slope blocks which allowed me to trim a lot of weight from the bot while increasing the actual block and thruster count with the cpu gained by not using TX armor

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have used TX armor on the original bot the way that I did. Lesson learned. :)

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?

After receiving X amount of points you will get a chance of being promoted to "trusted reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Trusted reviewer?

As a trusted reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Trusted reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.
