GDI ORCA Assault Craft (Command & Conquer)

Missile Copter added 1 year ago

Another LML Command & Conquer Robocraft build! This time it's GDI Orca!
Orca aircraft are a family of turbofan-powered VTOLs developed and employed by GDI starting in the First Tiberium War. The Orca's most common form was a close support gunship, although the number of types briefly expanded during the Second Tiberium War.
The Orca I made for Robocraft is closer to 2nd Tiberium War (C&C Tibierian Sun version) but still yields some of the original Orca specs, including the front chin gun which was possible to add after the Maximum Loadout Update.

I also tried full hover version or wing & blade hybrid, but it seems like the blade & hover hybrid is the most stable.

Sporting two brand new Lock-on Missile Launchers, 1 Disintegrator Carbon 6 laser, 2 hover Tornado blades, 4 rotor Reckon blades, 2 Cheetah Carbon 6 Thrusters,

Now available in CRF: listed as "GDI ORCA Assault Craft".

I think you should use glass instead of the cosmetic cockpit, because the cosmetic looks nothing like the real thing. the beak should be longer, actually I'll save my own time by saying everything is the wrong size compared to each other. Sucks that missiles take up so much cpu.

I prefer the cockpit more as it gives me the exact feel I desire with Orca - darkish, transparent and consistent texture, without the tiled cube by cube skin.

As you know there were plenty of different Orcas designed, I kinda wanted something between Tibierian Sun version ( http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/13/12811/orcafighet.jpg ), Renegade version ( http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/cnc/images/8/82/CNCR_Orca_Ren.png/revision/latest?cb=20120813193935 - the cockpit is more similar) and Reborn version ( http://media.moddb.com/cache/images/games/1/1/631/thumb_620x2000/33710.jpg ).

Yea the LMLs basically waste 1/rd of the whole CPU, so making larger proportions are out of the question.

Looks good, but the rotor blades are low tier.

The delta between different tiers of parts is now very small actually (compared to what it was before). The blades themselves are not that very different efficiency wise, but in this case it's the very size that matters :p

It should be using helium and rudders to be accurate...

So far I tried hover version, winged & rotor version, thruster & wing version. I like the rotor hover hybrid thruster hybrid the most so far as it's stable.

I would try helium but there's no cpu for that unless I'll completely redo the thing ;p

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?

After receiving X amount of points you will get a chance of being promoted to "trusted reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Trusted reviewer?

As a trusted reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Trusted reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.

Constructive Voting

Hey, seems like you're about to place your first constructive vote. That's awesome! I just wanted to inform you a bit about it before you jump into voting though. You can vote on any comment accompanied with a rating as a "Constructive Review". This will give the reviewer a "Constructive Point".
