Ð✘ Thorn

Plasma Walker added 9 months ago

Thorn is the best of an array of design concepts.

- It has six insect/walker legs, enabling it to climb and maneuver as if it were pure walker.

- It uses lightweight tesseract weave and some internal thrusters, allowing it to maneuver quickly and escape at low health.

- It utilizes wings, giving it the tankiness and maneuverability of a bomber, making it hard to kill, even with extensive plasma damage.

- It has heavier cubes in the front to effectively fight from the ground, giving it the survivability of a medium tank.

- It uses a cluster of thrusters in the front, much like that used on a drone, giving superior maneuverability.

- It has front mounted plasma, much like some aerorod rail builds, useful for peeking

Thorn is equipped with:

6x SMG Disintegrator
2x Plasma Devestator
6x Leg Worker
2x Wing Falcon
4x Wing Hawk
4x Rudder Eagle
6x Thruster Cheetas
7x Thruster Puma
1x Radar

but, well, now i wanna give some critics ^^ it's about the armor, the bot weights less than 3 tons, has a carry capacity of 9,8 tons (air)/11,6 tons (ground) aaand has a speed effectivity until 8 tons, so the bot could really need some more armor. (since the slopes don't have that much hp anymore) And it could use some more SMGs instead of Plasmas.

I play TDM, where plasmas are more useful, and the extra wings are for redundancy, not to carry more weight.

well, there's the difference ^^ i'm playing mainly BA and here and there it is nice to have plasmas to drop some bombs when you're flying around, but i still prefer SMGs as main close/mid-quarter-combat weapon. And going for a bit more survivability in TDM shouldn't be that wrong, replacing the edge slopes with tetras or halves wouldn't hurt. ^^

Looks like a decent assault crawler/scarab glider.
It also looks nice and its nice to see that you didn't make the mistake to set the peek rods on the same base block (saw a sniper once that hat 4 rails on rods and the rods were anchored on the same base block yo you could easily snipe it away).

actually kinda the same mistake to put thrusters on tanks, which is an totally dumb idea cause tank tracks cant get boosted, but i still see many bots that do this mistake, even in the CRF...
Or like placing rails on main helis/flyers.

I did that too, live and learn I guess.

looks like it would be good for flanking and so on however the tesseract weave may be an issue vs smg as smg's shred that armor

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?

After receiving X amount of points you will get a chance of being promoted to "trusted reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Trusted reviewer?

As a trusted reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Trusted reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.

Constructive Voting

Hey, seems like you're about to place your first constructive vote. That's awesome! I just wanted to inform you a bit about it before you jump into voting though. You can vote on any comment accompanied with a rating as a "Constructive Review". This will give the reviewer a "Constructive Point".
