Half-baked Healer

Medic Drone added 1 year ago

UPDATE:
Very sad...This bot is no longer viable after the release of Full Spectrum Combat.

OLD DESCRIPTION:
This bot is getting close to a final version. I'll update images and stats when I stop tinkering with it. As of this date is has earned 10K healing many times with a top healing match of 17.6K (36% higher than nearest medic).

This is more or less a "Stasis Bot". It will basically hover in mid-air and slowly drift to the ground if you move very slowly. If you stop moving, it tilts upward to expose the nanos to a tower. Once you start moving again, it will go back to horizontal orientation.

I was concerned what would happen when parts got shot off, but in the last few matches I've played, it did very well. In Battle Arena, I am usually able to get back to base. I've attached a TDM Battle Screen.

Of greatest concern to me was the 6 Mk4 rudders. I was concerned they wouldn't last very long. But, they seem to be protected well enough from stray fire...at least until so much of the bot is gone that it doesn't really matter. I chose these because I can fit 6 of them and connect them to different parts of the bot (redundancy).

So far the greatest weakness has been the exposed thrusters. But there are enough of them that I can limp back to base as long as I have a rudder to keep me stable.

I am completely open to suggestions on how to improve it. So far, it is doing well and holds up to smg copter fire fairly well....unless the player has dead aim on my rudders. But, my movement is fast enough that it is hard for most to keep sustained fire on it. :) The greatest threat is rails and plasma.

I will add one when I get some time to do so. I'm going to wait until after the update to see it is still a viable bot.

I'm still tinkering and testing with this bot quite a bit. I'm not 100% happy with it despite having a number of 12K+ healing matches. The problem is that I lose my directional control too easily and am trying to find ways to protect those thrusters better. I've currently upgraded them to Mk10 thrusters which helps a bit but forced me to add a vertical rudder.

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?
