BARC96 Pod Racer XL-10

General Robot added 2 years ago

This robot was scrapped before the Full Spectrum Combat update. It will come back, though.

This is one of my entries for the upcoming Pod Racer competition.

Upon hearing about the upcoming Pod Racer competition, I wanted to join, but I couldn’t build a suitable bot due to lack of funds. This is where BARC96, hoverboat building company operating since 2096, comes in. They wanted to be better known and figured sponsoring a pilot for a racing competition was a very good opportunity. They provided me with the blueprint and the RP needed to build a heavy-weight pod racer.

This bot, reaching the tier 10 limit of 1511 CPU, uses 12 thrusters. Most of the armor is made of TX-1 armor blocks to try and help reducing the weight of the bot, however its weight meant tier 7 hoverblades had to be installed instead of the recommended tier 2, drastically reducing its speed. During testing, the bot reached an average of 140 MPH at OC-1 and 160 MPH at OC-4. The bot has a total amount of exactly 500 cubes.

Further testing revealed a tipping problem that made the bot drag on the ground when climbing in any amount. The thrusters were adjusted accordingly : Now, 9 thrusters, 8 T10 and 1 T8 are used to propel the bot forward, 2 T10 to help steering, and one T8 to help the bot stay upright when climbing.

PROS :

- Heavy, good for ramming

CONS :

- Slow for a pod racer
- Cannot mount weapons without complete redesign

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?

After receiving X amount of points you will get a chance of being promoted to "trusted reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Trusted reviewer?

As a trusted reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Trusted reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.

Constructive Voting

Hey, seems like you're about to place your first constructive vote. That's awesome! I just wanted to inform you a bit about it before you jump into voting though. You can vote on any comment accompanied with a rating as a "Constructive Review". This will give the reviewer a "Constructive Point".
