Titan 2.0

Plasma Bomber added 1 year ago

This is a reworked version of my
Titan bomber.

It's fully triforced, durable and
agile. I built it to counter the
damage of all the new AA weapons!

Enjoy!

Maybe there aren't enough pics to illustrate the point (hint hint!)

But this just looks like a modded Barack o Bomber, what's different Kostas?

This is my second gen bomber and it's an improved version of my old bomber:

http://robocraftgarage.com/robot/etwAVY78

I ve never used the Barack o Bomber before so I don't know how well it works in the current meta or if Juvar reworked it to make it strong against the new AA weapons which means I can't really tell you the difference between them.

I can tell you how it's better than my previous bomber though.

The wings were attached on the core which was 3 blocks thick and no matter how much I tried to redirect the damage sometimes I would lose all the back wings if I was hit by a rail or a plasma because of their overwhelming damage. To fix this, I used the same thickness for the core but this time I attached the wings on a forth layer of blocks.

When I built my previous bomber, I though a really small cover for the wings would be enough since their supporting block would be covered but the enemies could still destroy the wings simply because they were exposed. For that reason, I added a layer of blocks above and below the wings and with the combination of the aerofoil buff they are well protected from plasma, smg and flak damage.

After the introduction of the missile launcher, I noticed that the missiles always hit the back of my bomber so I completely reworked the back. I reinforced and triforced it so it can easily withstand a full volley of missiles.

Finally, I added 3 thrusters at the front, 2 facing upwards and 1 downwards (hidden) to dive and ascent or change direction quickly so I can get behind cover faster.

I need to make a video soon with this bomber in action but I have a screenshot to show you how well the wings are protected. This from when I was still testing it and happened after 2 missile copters, an aeroflak and a rail ambushed me:

The aeroflak destroyed 2 wings at the back and the damage of the 2 missile launchers and rail managed to reach the supporting block of one of the remaining 2 but I still had one left thanks to the way I protected it so I managed to escape just when the rail finished reloading and go inside the shield and heal.

Keep in mind that even though the Barrack o bomber is the most famous brick bomber, it's not a new design. The inspiration for brick bombers was SHS's bomber so we built our first gen of brick bombers with Juvar and we were platooning and destroying everything since there were not many things that could stop these things. With all the rail buffs and these new AA weapons though things changed but FJ buffed the wings and plasma so these bombers are back to being strong so I decided to build a second gen brick bomber based on my old design.

Another example of how well it absorbs damage from one of my recent games:

Definitely looks nice, but how well does it counter the AA's exactly? Is it great at diving and dodging, or just really tanky?

It's really tanky and it doesn't lose wings easily thanks to the damage redirection I used. It can also dive or ascent fast thanks to the 2 thrusters at the front and the one thruster hidden inside the bomber.

So far It could fly just fine after 12 missiles (2 missile copters locked on me while I was away from cover). While I was testing it, the missiles always hit the back so I reinforced it more.

The flaks were a little more difficult to deal with since they can hit different parts of your bot but I managed to secure the support blocks of the wings well so now it can take several shots without a problem.

Obviously, the goal was not to build a bomber that could fly towards AA bots and tank everything. This is impossible. The goal was to build a bomber that could take several hits from AA weapons without a problem so I can have enough time to find cover and then sneak up on them and destroy them that way.

Constructive Points

Constructive points are what you get when other users mark your reviews (comment+ratings) as constructive.

When should you mark a review as constructive though?

If you answer yes to at least three of these questions you should definitely mark it as constructive; is the review..

  1. friendly?
  2. helpful?
  3. encouraging?
  4. well structured?
  5. fair relative to the CPU used?

Why do I want these points?

After receiving X amount of points you will get a chance of being promoted to "trusted reviewer". This promotion is done by a moderator if (s)he thinks your comment and rating behaviour is reasonable.

Trusted reviewer?

As a trusted reviewer you no longer need to write a comment when rating a robot. If you add a comment you will receive extra points. Trusted reviewer is not necessarily permanent, continous bad behaviour or lack of comments might get you demoted.

Constructive Voting

Hey, seems like you're about to place your first constructive vote. That's awesome! I just wanted to inform you a bit about it before you jump into voting though. You can vote on any comment accompanied with a rating as a "Constructive Review". This will give the reviewer a "Constructive Point".
